Sound+Science is a free after-school music and science project+learning+making program for NYC public high school students (including graduating seniors).

Mentors will guide you in learning digital recording, beat-making, Hip-Hop-to-AI, Python music coding, Science of Sound and other exciting topics. You will get to create projects of your own choosing (songs, performances, programs, etc.) and present them at the end of program.

Our fall session runs from October 13th through December 10th, every Tuesdays and Thursday from 5:30 to 7:30 pm at One Rivington Street, LES, Manhattan.

WHO WE ARE

Sound+Science is an innovative after-school program, research lab, and community in NYC for high school students interested in exploring the unique and deep connection between music, science, and technology. Through a unique curriculum, participants will explore modules like ‘The Hidden Codes in Electronic Music’, ‘From Hip-Hop to AI’, and Music Improvisation and the Evolution of the Mathematics of Computation Sound+Science, revealing the profound connections between music, technology, physics and mathematics.

Participants can look forward to Masterclass Lectures, where industry experts shed light on the confluence of music and technology and the Studio Labs, which provide a hands-on environment for participants to apply their knowledge, fostering creativity and collaboration.

Sound+Science will also offer a challenging and supportive environment that pairs high school students with local college STEM majors as they work together on Incentive-based projects designed to challenge and motivate participants to create real-world applications that resonate with musicians, producers, and coders while facilitating knowledge exchange and mutual growth.
